Aston Villa transfer round-up: Palhinha update shared as private jet flies in

Aston Villa are yet to make any major signings in the summer transfer window, but do need to strengthen their squad.

Villa bypassed financial issues regarding their PSR situation, meaning that they do not have to sell key players like was anticipated at the end of last season.

Unai Emery will hope to add to his squad, but some players could still depart as clubs register their interest in some of his key stars.

Villa News has now provided a round-up of the latest transfer news coming out of Villa Park, as several high-profile players have been targeted.

Aston Villa wary of Ferran Torres injury issues

Aston Villa have been linked with a move for Barcelona star Ferran Torres, with the Spaniard falling down the pecking order with the Blaugrana.

While his pedigree and profile make Torres a potentially exciting signing, he has a concerning injury history, but Dr Rajpbal Brar has now told Villa News that due diligence would have been done over his problems.

It is claimed that Villa will take a close look at his injury record, with a history of hamstring injuries and a recent case of appendicitis, before sanctioning a deal for him.

Villa to profit from Enzo Barrenechea sale

Aston Villa signed Enzo Barrenechea from Juventus last year, but loaned him out to Valencia before he even made a single senior appearance.

The Argentinian has impressed at Valencia, but still has no future at Villa, and several European clubs are chasing his signature.

It has now been reported that Villa’s asking price for the 24-year-old exceeds what they paid for him last year, and they could stand to make a healthy profit.

Marco Bizot flies in for Villa medical

Villa have now agreed a deal to sign Brest goalkeeper Marco Bizot, as a second-choice option to replace Robin Olsen.

Bizot will arrive as a veteran to compete with Emi Martinez, and his flight arrived in Birmingham on Sunday afternoon.

Bizot performed well in Ligue 1 last season, and will provide more reliable cover than Olsen did in his time at Villa Park.

Aston Villa interested in Joao Palhinha

Villa have been linked with several midfielders, including former star Douglas Luiz, and Bayern Munich outcast Joao Palhinha has now emerged as an option.

It is reported that with Palhinha unhappy at Bayern, the 30-year-old is keen on a return to the Premier League, and Villa are interested in a deal.

Palhinha was outstanding at Fulham prior to his move to Bayern, and could now be an option to upgrade their midfield roster.
