NSWE ‘to right wrongs of the past’ as Palhinha set for Bayern Munich exit

Joao Palhinha was once one of the best midfielders in the Premier League before his move to Bayern Munich.

The 30-year-old was at Fulham between 2022-24 and helped the London club cement their status as a mid-table top-flight side.

However, the Portuguese international has struggled to make the same impact at Bayern Munich since he moved to Germany last summer.

Despite helping the Bavarian club win the Bundesliga title, he is now linked with a quick exit.

Aston Villa reignite interest in Palhinha

Aston Villa have previously been linked to Palhinha before his eventual move to Bayern Munich.

Now, according to Caught Offside (13 July), the Birmingham outfit have reignited this interest.

The article states that Palhinha is likely to return to the Premier League this summer as the 30-year-old is no longer part of Vincent Kompany’s plans.

Both Manchester United and Tottenham have identified the midfielder as a potential target, with the Red Devils making initial enquiries.

However, the Manchester club want a loan deal, whereas Bayern are aiming for a permanent transfer, valuing Palhinha between £26 million and £30.25 million.

Elsewhere, West Ham are on the verge of entering formal negotiations, while Fulham are interested in rebuying their former star.

Brighton and Aston Villa have also expressed interest, as the race to win his signature heats up.

Palhinha would be a statement signing from Unai Emery

Given the difficult summer Villa have had so far, if they can sign Palhinha, it would no doubt be a statement.

The deal would also help to right the wrongs of the past, when the Birmingham outfit failed to bring the midfielder to Villa Park

If secured, Palhinha would instantly become one of Emery’s best players and would once again become a Premier League star.

Hopefully, Emery looks to open negotiations over the coming days to ensure he secures his signature.
