Aston Villa ‘could play transfer blinder’ as Victor available for bargain fee

Aston Villa are on the lookout for cut-price deals this summer.

There has been no hiding from the monetary issues surrounding Villa Park, something which was widely reported throughout June.

These problems look to have been negated by the sale of the Women’s team by Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens ahead of the new financial year.

That hasn’t stopped the Villans from going bargain hunting in the transfer market, with a move for John Victor potentially summing up their summer strategy.

Aston Villa in running for Victor signing

As well as these financial reports, exit links for Emi Martinez have been the main talking point in recent months in B6.

This has seen the Argentina international attract interest from Manchester United, especially after Andre Onana suffered an injury in pre-season.

Ruben Amorim and Co. are also looking into other options, while Villa look to also add a new shotstopper to their ranks.

With that being said, Alan Nixon has reported (13 July) that the Red Devils’ scouts have watched Botafogo keeper Victor in his side’s return to Serie A action.

The soon-to-be Brazil international kept a clean sheet against Sao Paulo, something which appears to have piqued the Old Trafford club’s interest.

Aston Villa are also in the running for the 29-year-old, with the claret and blue outfit being alerted to his availability for a bargain fee this summer.

Aston Villa in Victor battle with Manchester United

It is set to be an interesting few weeks for the Villans on the transfer front, considering they are yet to complete a signing besides Zepiqueno Redmond on a free.

This will especially be the case in the goalkeeping position if Martinez decides to leave for Manchester United before the new campaign.

It appears that Villa already have a new number two in the shape of Marco Bizot from Brest, with another option still being considered, it seems.

The Villa Park faithful are now awaiting news in this area and are hopeful of moving into a new Premier League season in the strongest possible fashion.
