Aston Villa to ‘seal Bizot transfer’ as Emi Martinez exit lined up next

Aston Villa’s transfer window is shaping up interestingly so far.

Off the pitch, there is uncertainty surrounding those behind the scenes, with Monchi potentially leaving B6 to pursue a fresh challenge.

On the pitch, rumours continue to surround key players like Ollie Watkins, with the striker continuously linked with a move to Manchester United.

Emi Martinez is another player who is seemingly set for a move away from Villa Park, with the Lions appearing to be closing in on securing his replacement.

Martinez exit likely after new transfer developments

Villa are yet to make any marquee signings so far in the window, and despite links to players such as Ferran Torres, no moves have materialised as of yet.

Securing players such as Torres may be even harder for Unai Emery with the uncertainty surrounding his squad.

Martinez has been outstanding for Villa under the Spaniard, but after narrowly missing out on Champions League football last season, his time in Birmingham looks to be nearing an end.

According to reports from The Mirror (10 July), Villa are set to sign Dutch shot stopper Bizot from Brest, with a deal being finalised as soon as the weekend.

Emery is said to be looking for a new goalkeeper amid the rumours surrounding Martinez, which the Argentinian only added fuel to.

Martinez was unwilling to commit his future to Villa in a recent interview, meaning Bizot could find himself as the first-choice keeper going into next season.

The World Cup winner said: “My future? I don’t know, I come here to play for the national team, and that’s the only thing that matters to me right now.

“Do I want to move to a new club? The transfer window just opened, so there’s still a long way to go.”

Another goalie needed alongside Bizot

Since moving to Villa, Martinez has established himself as one of the very best goalkeepers in the world.

Replacing the Argentinian’s quality will be hard and certainly would come at a premium, but signing a 34-year-old Bizot in his place feels underwhelming.

With Emery’s backup shot stopper, Robin Olsen, also departing after being released by the Villans, bringing in another goalkeeper alongside Bizot is necessary.

Villa would preferably sign more of a long-term option in the window to complement Bizot as Emery’s side looks to regain their place in Europe’s premier competition next season.
