Aston Villa ‘get Torres transfer clarity’ as sources speak out after £43m update
Aston Villa have had a tough time in this summer’s transfer window.
As things stand, the Villans have been unable to attract any new attacking stars, following the departures of loan signings Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio.
Villa had been linked with an audacious move for Barcelona striker Ferran Torres. The Spanish forward had a great season for the La Liga champions, albeit as an understudy to Robert Lewandowski, but it was thought that Unai Emery’s Spanish links could tempt him to Villa Park.
That transfer would certainly remove any feelings of doom and gloom clouding the minds of Villa fans, so these supporters may be interested to hear the updates on this situation being published by the Spanish media.

Spanish media rubbishes talk of Torres to Aston Villa
There’s no chance of Torres joining Villa, according to Spanish sports publication Mundo Deportivo.
A report via the newspaper’s print edition on Thursday (10 July, page 10) suggested that Villa have made no moves to sign the former Man City star, who is said to have been valued at £43million.
What’s more, an unnamed source from Villa Park told the publication that the club isn’t trying to sign him.
And as a final nail in the coffin, it was claimed that Torres himself has no interest in leaving Barcelona.

Villa need to sign at least a couple of attacking superstars
If Emery is serious about getting Villa back in the Champions League, he will need to sign at least two attackers with the pedigree of Rashford and Asensio.
Ollie Watkins can be trusted to present a serious goal threat once again this season, but he can’t do it all on his own.
Torres would have been a fantastic candidate to fill one of the holes in Villa’s attack. In fact, it would arguably be one of the signings of the summer if Emery and his recruitment team could make it happen.
Signed | January 2022 |

It had been suggested that Torres’ mood might shift if Barcelona signed Rashford this summer, but that now seems unlikely given the definitive tone of this report.
Indeed, this report suggests that Villa haven’t even enquired about Torres’ availability. Fans will be hoping that Emery has another similarly classy attacker in his sights.
