‘Tammy Abraham to help seal Aston Villa transfer’ as new agreement advancing

Aston Villa are yet to make a big-name signing in the summer transfer window.

After a disappointing ending to the season, in which Villa narrowly missed out on Champions League football, Unai Emery would have hoped for proactivity in the market.

Instead, decision-makers at Villa Park have remained dormant while surrounding Premier League opponents strengthen.

With the first match of pre-season under two weeks away, fans will hope the coming days arrive with concrete news on incomings.

Villa ‘in discussions’ for Kilicsoy

Villa will be on the hunt for forwards this summer, following the departure of Jhon Duran in January.

Ollie Watkins could also leave Villa Park this summer, with Manchester United reportedly keen on a move for the 29-year-old.

That would leave Emery’s options in attack looking sparse, with Marcus Rashford also returning to United.

According to Turkish outlet Fanatik (July 2), Villa have turned to Besiktas striker Semih Kilicsoy.

The West Midlands club are in discussions to sign the 18-year-old, with a fee worth around £13million touted.

Kilicsoy is already a regular for Besiktas

According to the report, Kilicsoy has been made available by the completion of former Villa man Tammy Abraham’s move to Besiktas.

The striker was unveiled by the Super Lig club on Thursday (July 3), joining on loan from AC Milan.

Abraham scored 26 goals for Villa in the 2018/19 season, helping the club achieve promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs, but it appears the Englishman’s aid did not stop there.

Kilicsoy may not be the immediate answer for Villa

Kilicsoy would arrive in Birmingham as a fantastic talent. The 18-year-old has already broken into the first team at Besiktas, scoring 11 goals in his first campaign.

The Turkish teenager can also play across the front line, and would provide Villa with an immediate reinforcement of their attacking depth.

There is no doubting Kilicsoy’s talent, but where questions do persist are in his readiness for the Premier League.

If Watkins is to leave, Villa need to ensure that they are replacing his goals in the squad. For all his talent, the signing of Kilicsoy cannot guarantee that.

If the forward is to arrive this summer, he must arrive with little pressure and plenty of time to adapt to the English game, taking advice from Abraham as he passes.
