Enzo Barrenechea ‘to leave Aston Villa’ after new transfer developments
Aston Villa endured a timid start to the transfer window, but that is set to change over the coming weeks.
The latest PSR deadline has passed, and Villa have agreed to sell their women’s team so that they do not need to sacrifice key players.
Yasin Özcan is the one of two arrivals at Villa Park, with Zépiqueno Redmond also through the door from Feyenoord.
Enzo Barrenechea is one of a wealth of players to return to the Villans, but faces an immediate exit this summer.

Barrenechea on Real Betis shortlist amid Aston Villa return
Barrenechea cast his Aston Villa future into doubt after posting a cryptic Instagram message following his return from Valencia.
The Argentinian spent the entirety of last season on loan with the La Liga outfit, where he was a regular starter.
Barrenechea made 30 league appearances for the Spanish side, as they swerved relegation under Carlos Corberan.
Enzo Barrenechea’s 2024/25 La Liga statistics | Total |
Appearances | 30 |
Goals | 1 |
Assists | 2 |
Touches | 56.3 |
Accurate passes | 39 (87%) |
Total duels won | 5 (61%) |
With his immediate future up in the air, Bryan King exclusively told Villa News that the Villans will let Barrenechea leave for £8-10million.
Now, the 24-year-old is attracting interest from Valencia’s rivals, Real Betis, according to Estadio Deportivo (5 July).
Betis are eyeing replacements for Johnny Cardoso, who is on the verge of joining Atletico Madrid, and Barrenechea is on their shortlist.
The defensive midfielder is to make an appearance for Emery’s side since joining from Juventus in January 2024.

Villa must make imminent Barrenechea decision
With so many players returning from their respective loans, there are likely to be several departures at Villa Park.
Barrenechea looks like he will be one of them, but it should not be an issue to find a suitor for the midfielder.
The 24-year-old has plenty of La Liga experience under his belt and showed his worth for Valencia.
If he is not going to get any opportunities next season, then surely the former Juventus man will want to move on.
The Argentine is behind many players in the pecking order and is primed to leave, having yet to make an appearance.
