Marco Asensio ‘has final say’ as £12.9m contract bid made around Aston Villa
Aston Villa have had a relatively quiet summer transfer window ahead of the new Premier League season.
The Villans signed Yasin Ozcan on a pre-contract agreement earlier in the year, and have followed that up with the permanent acquisition of Zepiqueno Redmond.
Last season, the West Midlands outfit signed several players on loan, including Marco Asensio, Marcus Rashford, and Axel Disasi.
It seemed that Aston Villa were keen to sign Asensio permanently, and now there has been an update on his future at Paris Saint-Germain.

Asensio contract in multi-million bid
Given the stature of the Spaniard, the price tag was always going to be a sticking point in Aston Villa’s pursuit of Asensio.
The attacking midfielder joined Unai Emery’s side on loan in February and went on to make an instant impact in all competitions.
Asensio finished his short stint at Villa Park with eight goals and one assist across appearances in the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup.
However, turning his loan deal into a permanent one was always going to be tricky, given his high wages.
Now, Fenerbahce have made an offer of £12.9million for the 29-year-old, according to L’Equipe (2 July).
They state that the Turkish outfit have made the offer to PSG to buy out the last year of Asensio’s contract, and now the decision rests with the Spaniard.
The French outlet goes on to claim that Fenerbahce’s manager, Jose Mourinho, is trying to convince Asensio to sign.

Should Aston Villa rival Fenerbahce’s bid for Asensio?
While just under £13million to sign a player of Asensio’s quality feels like a no-brainer, there are several factors to consider.
Firstly, his wages. It is estimated that the Spaniard earns around £116,500 a week, which is estimated to be less than the Villans’ highest earners.
At 29, Asensio may be considered past his peak, and Emery must consider how much football the Premier League club would get out of him.
The midfielder did make a positive impact last season and showed his quality in key moments for the West Midlands side.
However, Villa might decide that money is best spent elsewhere if they want to be shrewd with their spending.
Whatever happens, time is running out if Aston Villa want to rival Fenerbahce for Asensio’s signature.
