Done deal: Aston Villa finalise new signing at Villa Park

Aston Villa will want to give Unai Emery a strong squad this transfer window ahead of next season as they look to win silverware.

The Villains made some big moves in the winter transfer window, with Marcus Rashford arriving from Manchester United on loan, but the option to buy the Englishman wasn’t triggered.

While the Villa Park faithful will hope to secure the return of the 27-year-old forward to Birmingham, it remains to be seen whether a deal can be struck, with Paris Saint-Germain star Marco Asensio another player supporters would definitely like to see back in B6.

The Lions are yet to make an official summer signing, but one deal has been finalised.

Yasin Ozcan finalises Aston Villa transfer after pre-contract agreement in February

Yasin Ozcan has finalised his transfer to Villa after agreeing a pre-contract in February.

The Villans have announced (2 July) that the Turkish centre-back has officially joined them ahead of the start of next season at Villa Park.

During the 19-year-old’s time at Kasimpasa, he was considered one of the most exciting talents in world football, and fans will certainly have a chance to see him in action during pre-season.

Ozcan has signed a five-year deal in Birmingham, and it will be interesting to see if Unai Emery has him in the Lions’ plans for the upcoming campaign.

Emery needs defensive reinforcements at Villa

Axel Disas joined Villa from Chelsea in the winter transfer window, but the Frenchman has put in some underwhelming performances in recent months.

While there’s speculation that the defender may join the Villans permanently this summer, it would arguably be better to pursue other targets.

Emery played Disasi at right-back at times, and the 27-year-old often got caught out, leading to frustration from supporters.

Villa should buy a natural defender for the right side of the defence instead of spending a significant sum on the Chelsea star.

Ozcan’s arrival can ensure Ezri Konsa and Pau Torres have cover at centre-back, and Matty Cash should be provided with competition for a place in the starting lineup.

The Spanish manager will be disappointed to miss out on a top-five finish in the Premier League on the final day of last season, but he could potentially end the Lions’ long trophy drought soon.

Emery is somewhat of a specialist in the Europa League, and the Villa Park faithful will be confident of winning that competition in the upcoming campaign.

The former Sevilla head coach will undoubtedly need a strong squad to compete on all fronts, and Monchi has a lot of work to do on that front.
