Villa Park will host a lot of big names in metal

While a lot of the seated areas at Villa Park will be protected by the roof, those in the standing section, and on stage, may wish to take precautionary measures given this forecast.

Villa fans paid tribute to Osbourne and Black Sabbath during their Champions League clash with Celtic, and some of the biggest names in metal will now do the same.

Metal’s biggest names to grace Villa Park

Black Sabbath have been awarded the freedom of Birmingham ahead of their final farewell, as one of the founding fathers of heavy metal.

Some of the biggest bands in the world were influenced by the Birmingham quartet, and metal royalty will be supporting Sabbath in Metallica, Pantera, Slayer and Anthrax.

There will be sets from those four giants, as well as Lamb of God, Tool, Halestorm, Gojira and Mastodon, with a lot of other big names in attendance.

A supergroup, who are expected to cover some of Sabbath’s greatest hits, will see the likes of Fred Durst, Slash and Jonathan Davis link up, with the whole day directed by former Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello.

All profits from the event will be donated equally between charities: Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorn Children’s Hospice, a Children’s Hospice.

With Osbourne in poor health, it is likely that he will sit down during his solo set, before he is joined by Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward for Black Sabbath’s first and last full show in 20 years.
