Aston Villa news round-up: ‘NSWE should be ashamed’ as Rogers sale decision made
Aston Villa now know where they stand after the PSR deadline passed on Monday.
Unai Emery is keen on strengthening his squad, but his hands are currently tied as Villa aim to resolve their financial issues before entering the market.
Villa may have had to sell key players in order to solve their PSR deficit, but they found a solution ahead of the cut-off point.
Several developments have occurred in the last 24 hours, and Villa News now provides a round-up of the latest updates coming out of Villa Park.

Villa confirm Marcus Rashford exit
Villa have now confirmed that loanee Marcus Rashford will return to Manchester United, and will not be kept next season.
The Villains had a £40million option to buy in his loan contract, but did not elect to use it, with Rashford’s desire unclear.
The attacker had a mixed spell at Villa since his high-profile arrival in January, and he will now aim for a move elsewhere this summer with his United career seemingly over.

Twist in Emi Martinez future
Emi Martinez appeared almost certain to depart Villa this summer, but this may no longer be the case as the PSR deadline nears.
Martinez has been linked with clubs in England and Saudi Arabia, and could have been sold to ease the PSR situation.
However, it now appears that with the situation resolved, Villa are now relaxed over Martinez’s future, with no pressure to sell him immediately.
Morgan Rogers to stay at Villa
Villa have also been handed a boost as they now do not feel any pressure to sell Morgan Rogers, despite links away.
Rogers is one of their most valuable assets, but a sale was mooted given their previous PSR situation.
Morgan Rogers’ 2024/25 Premier League statistics | Total |
Appearances | 37 |
Goals | 8 |
Assists | 10 |
Big chances created | 16 |
Touches | 41.3 |
Accurate passes | 17.6 (75%) |
However, with the issue now resolved, Villa will no longer consider selling the attacker, who had an outstanding campaign last season and attracted interest from clubs including Arsenal.
NWSE make shameful PSR decision
The PSR situation has now been resolved, but not in the way many would have expected or wanted, as NWSE have now sold the Aston Villa Women’s team in a £55m deal.
This represents a bad look for the club and ownership, with Villa now criticised for copying Chelsea’s tactic of selling the women’s team to boost their financial situation.
Fans of the Women’s team will be far from happy that they are simply considered a commodity to sell, and there has been a lot of criticism directed Villa’s way despite their PSR issue now being resolved.
