PSR insider: Aston Villa to sell infrastructure within hours, ‘there’s a lot of noise’

Aston Villa could soon sanction an internal sale to help comply with PSR.

The Villans have been central to financial discussions in recent weeks, which could see a punishment in the pipeline if rules aren’t adhered to.

This has seen a number of players like Louie Barry linked with an exit as the B6 club looks to balance their books ready for 1 July.

With that being said, the sale of infrastructure within the organisation by Nassef Sawiris and Co. could be utilised to help negate monetary issues.

Aston Villa could now sell Women’s team in PSR twist

You would struggle to find a fan of the financial rulings that the Premier League have in place, which feel like an attempt to stunt the growth of non-‘big-six’ teams.

The impact of this has been felt in the Midlands and at Newcastle United, with both forced into big-name sales such as Douglas Luiz and his move to Juventus.

It is fair to imagine that Unai Emery will be keen to avoid any new losses in the upcoming window, sparking Sawiris into life.

There is every chance that the sale of an asset owned by V Sports could be sold to a sister company to boost revenue, in a similar fashion to Chelsea.

This now appears to be edging closer to completion with financial expert Stefan Borson speaking out on the probability of a deal live on talkSPORT (28 June).

He said: “It does look like Aston Villa are short, but they aren’t desperately looking to get a player out the door before Monday night.

“That suggests that if they do have a problem, they are going down the Chelsea route, which is ‘What can we do with the Women’s team or can we find a car park or other building within Aston Villa to sell to another part of the business to take a book profit to get us over the line in terms of PSR?’

“I suspect we will find out in the coming weeks that they’ve done something with the Women’s team, and there’s certainly a lot of noise about that happening in the background.”

Aston Villa must take advantage of PSR loophole

Chelsea are the perfect example of how to make the most of holes in the Premier League’s rules to help combat any potential issues.

Leicester City managed to do similar after their promotion 12 months ago, so why shouldn’t Villa follow suit and take advantage?

If Emery and Monchi want money to spend on the squad, these sorts of manoeuvres have to be utilised, even if some may see that as unethical.

This won’t have an impact on Aston Villa Women, but should be the catalyst for the men’s side to have a positive window and kick on once again.
