Aston Villa odds slashed to sign Rashford as ‘Man United get ready for wage agreement’

Marcus Rashford’s future at Manchester United is still unclear.

The England international spent the latter half of the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Aston Villa where he put in some impressive performances.

Emery did have an option to sign Rashford at the end of his loan. However, he still remains at the Red Devils.

Nevertheless, Rashford looks all but certain to leave Manchester United this summer, with Villa in the race to sign the forward.

Manchester United set to ‘subsidise’ Rashford’s wages

Villa are on the lookout for a winger this summer in preparation for their Premier League and Europa League campaigns.

It now seems certain that Villa will miss out on Jesus Rodríguez, who looks set to move to Como.

In the meantime, Rashford has remained an option for Emery, and the chance of re-signing the winger may have just increased.

The Guardian (28 June) reported on Saturday that Man United are willing to “subsidise” Rashford’s wages this summer, even if he leaves to play for a rival club.

As a result, the odds of Aston Villa signing the 27-year-old have now shortened.

UNIBET (28 June) has Rashford at 13/4 to join Villa this summer, with Oddchecker confirming the price has been slashed.

Emery needs to move on from Rashford

While there is no doubt that Rashford had some good performances at Villa, Emery needs to move on from the attacker.

The 27-year-old has a poor attitude and wasn’t nearly consistent enough to warrant a Villa Park return.

There are plenty of better options out there for the Spaniard to pursue rather than a player who failed to take Villa to the Champions League – a task he was brought in to achieve.

If the Birmingham outfit wants to remain a top club in the Premier League, they must be smarter in the transfer window, rather than going for stars who have been out of form for years.
