‘Aston Villa have perfect opportunity to sign Mosquera’ as Valencia blunder emerges

Aston Villa have been monitoring the progress of Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera this summer.

The Spanish youth international has become a key figure at the heart of the defence for the La Liga giants, and that has seen him attract plenty of interest from elsewhere.

Villa have been told that they would need to fork out £21million for Mosquera, as they plot a potential deal to bring the youngster to Villa Park.

The Villans’ business this summer will play out against a backdrop of PSR concerns, but they are still keen to add new faces to Unai Emery’s squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Valencia’s contract error hands Villa an opportunity

Speculation that Villa could be preparing to sign Mosquera was fuelled even further when Emery flew out to Valencia just days after news of the Villans’ interest broke.

The links between Villa and Mosquera have cooled a little since then, but the second city outfit may have just been handed the perfect opportunity to swoop in and take a crucial step forward in their chase for the defender.

Mosquera is now said to be keen to consider interest from other clubs, as his frustration with Valencia has grown according to Estadio Deportivo (26 June).

The youngster’s contract at the Mestalla is set to expire at the end of next season, but it is understood that he has agreed to listen to one final proposal from his current club following months of unsuccessful negotiations.

That agreement prompted him to walk away from a potential move to RB Leipzig, but Valencia have yet to make that offer, resulting in Mosquera now beginning to turn his attention elsewhere.

Villa have now been presented with the perfect opportunity to complete a deal. If Mosquera has little intention of extending his stay with Valencia, it would surely be in the Spanish side’s interest to sell him this summer, rather than lose him for free at the end of the campaign.

Villa should do everything they can to sign Mosquera

The latest update from Valencia should provide Monchi and Emery with the necessary push to bring the defender to Villa Park.

Mosquera has seemingly fallen down the list of priorities for the club as Villa chase other targets, but now the door has opened for them to revert back to the centre half.

The Valencia man is clearly an impressive prospect given that he has already surpassed 80 appearances in the Spanish top flight by the age of 20, and the Villans should be working hard to bring him in, regardless of their financial struggles.

Villa will need to be selective over their priorities this summer, but there is no doubt that Mosquera should be near the top of the list.
