Edens and Sawiris ‘to pull off Luiz masterstroke’ at Villa in bad news for Kamara

Aston Villa were dealt a blow when key man Douglas Luiz departed for Juventus, but they could now bring him back this summer.

Luiz was an outstanding performer in the middle of the park, but he left to join Juventus in a deal which saw Enzo Barrenechea and Samuel Iling-Junior come the other way.

Aston Villa replaced Luiz with Amadou Onana, while Boubacar Kamara stepped up to play a vital role as a defensive midfielder last season.

However, with Villa suffering from PSR issues, Kamara may end up leaving this summer, but the opportunity has now arisen for Luiz to return.

Juventus open to bargain Luiz sale

Luiz endured a difficult season at Juventus as he failed to settle in a chaotic team, and he could now return to the Premier League just a year after he departed.

Italian outlet Calciomercato (23 June) have now reported that Juventus have set an asking price of around £21 million for Luiz, with Crystal Palace very interested in the midfielder.

Luiz was outstanding in his final season at Villa

Luiz failed to score or assist in 27 appearances for Juventus, as he played a role which clearly did not suit him, and reuniting with Unai Emery could now be the best move for his career.

Both Juventus and Luiz are open to leaving Juventus, and Villa must now consider bringing him back given their situation.

Kamara could leave Aston Villa

Kamara has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia, and it was previously reported that he could push for an exit from Villa after they failed to qualify for the Champions League.

With Villa ready to make a big sale to ease their PSR situation, the opportunity to sign Luiz could now influence who they sell.

If they can sell Kamara for a significant fee, while bringing Luiz back for just £21m and making a profit in the process, it would both help ease the financial pressure the club is under, while also adding a player who has proven himself at Villa in the past.

In many ways, it would be a transfer masterstroke from Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris.
