Garnacho pictured in Aston Villa shirt as Man Utd exit on the cards

Alejandro Garnacho has hinted that a move to Aston Villa could be on the cards this summer.

The Argentine looks set to leave Manchester United after an apparent fall-out with head coach Ruben Amorim.

Garnacho was left out of the squad entirely for United’s final Premier League game, a 2-0 victory against Unai Emery’s side at Old Trafford, after Amorim decided against starting the forward in the UEFA Europa League final.

Villa have been linked with the winger, with several others also ready to compete for his signature.

Garnacho’s eagerness to leave Old Trafford this summer is no secret, despite his deep connection to Manchester.

The 20-year-old broke through the United academy, making his debut for the first team under Erik ten Hag. He has gone on to make 144 appearances for the Red Devils and looked to have established himself as a key player at Old Trafford.

However, Amorim’s arrival has changed things, and Garnacho’s angry reaction to the Portuguese coach’s decision to bench him for the Europa League final appeared to be a breaking point in the relationship between the two.

Villa have emerged as a possible exit route for the winger, who has now shared an image of himself wearing Claret and Blue.

In a post made to his Instagram account, Garnacho can be seen sporting an Aston Villa shirt, with Manchester United teammate Marcus Rashford’s name on the back.

Rashford, who left United for Villa on loan in the winter transfer window, also fell out of favour with Amorim and is looking for a move away from Old Trafford this summer.

Garnacho move would be a risk

Garnacho’s potential should not be argued. The 20-year-old already has extensive Premier League experience and has demonstrated an ability to trouble even the sturdiest defences.

While his performances over the season were poor, his environment must be considered – you will struggle to find a more volatile one than that of Manchester United’s.

But any move for Garnacho also contains its risks. Attitude baggage undeniably arrives with the player, along with a track record of poor decision-making in the final third.

And given their publicly available financial issues, United are likely to squeeze as much as they can out of the forward’s departure. The signing of Garnacho could bring fresh influence in the final third, unquestionable pace and youthful energy.

But the Argentine could quickly become an expensive problem, and Villa must weigh up their options before deciding whether to act.
