Aston Villa star rages at Marcus Rashford ‘nonsense’ after what he saw him do

Marcus Rashford constantly hit the headlines during his stint at Aston Villa.

The Manchester United star joined the Villans on loan in the winter transfer window after a bust-up with Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.

He revitalised his career under Unai Emery and has now been linked with a move to the likes of Barcelona and Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Amadou Onana has been left unimpressed with one aspect of the media coverage surrounding Rashford.

Onana defends Rashford amid Villa controversy

Despite his impressive return to form at Villa Park, the 27-year-old continued to attract negative press.

Rashford was slammed by Joey Barton for appearing at a boxing event involving Liam Cameron and Ben Whittaker.

He was called out in the media after he was pictured in the arena for Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn’s fight later that month, after he had missed the Villans’ loss to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semi-final.

However, Onana has defended the Red Devils star amid the controversy over his extra-curricular activities away from Bodymoor Heath.

Speaking on the Inside Scoop podcast (22 June), he said: “Do you know what is crazy, I was there too (at the boxing), bare people were there too, but no one spoke about them.

“I feel like sometimes, when they just want to kill your character, everything you do is wrong.

“I don’t feel for him because I know he is a tough guy, one of the strongest people I have met in football, so I am not worried for him.

“I think it is really wrong to talk so much nonsense about someone, especially when you don’t know them.”

Aston Villa return unlikely for Rashford

Rashford was available for £40million this summer as a result of clause in his loan contract with Villa but it appears that will not taken up.

The United loanee notched four goals and six assists in 17 matches before injury scuppered his campaign and would have been a great addition for the B6 outfit if he could have maintained his form.

However, it seems that Emery and Monchi have other ideas for the direction that they want to take in terms of new signings.

He has his heart set on a move to the Catalan giants and would likely demand huge wages that the Villans could not afford after failing to qualify for the Champions League.

However, while he may not link up their side on a permanent deal, Villa fans will still remember Rashford fondly and it appears that the squad will too, if Onana’s latest admission is anything to go by.
