‘Matty Cash exit planned’ as Aston Villa eye brand-new transfer

Unai Emery seems to be planning for life without Matty Cash in his plans.

After falling just short in the Champions League and then missing out on qualification due to an officiating error, Aston Villa will be well aware of the importance that is held by the summer transfer window.

Unai Emery will undoubtedly be keen to strengthen his squad wherever possible, in an attempt to bridge the gap on the teams that finished above them last season, though that could come at a cost for certain players.

One of those whose future could be at risk is Cash, after the latest transfer update to have emerged from Villa Park.

Aston Villa ready to pounce for new defender transfer

Several players have already been linked with a move to Villa Park, though, as of yet, the Villans are yet to start their summer business.

However, it isn’t expected to be long until activity starts emerging, with a report from Corriere Dello Sport (18 June) stating that Villa are keen to sign a new right-back this summer.

With Cash, Ezri Konsa, and Kosta Nedeljković, Villa have several players who can play there, and the intent on signing another suggests that one may be on their way.

Another loan move for Nedeljković could be the one to make way, but there is also a chance that Emery is eying an upgrade on Cash, which would, in turn, cast doubts over his future.

If Cash were to be replaced, it’s highly unlikely he would want to stick around as rotation, and the Villans may already be planning for his exit.

Europa League football will require depth at Villa Park

Villa, all in all, managed fairly well to adapt between competitions last season, though they will need a few more bodies to compete for a starting place next time out.

Recruitment is going to be crucial, and they will be afforded no margin for error when it comes to bringing new faces to the club with hopes of progressing under Emery.
