Marcus Rashford thrived at Aston Villa in the second half of the 2024/25 season after joining on loan from Manchester United.

The England international formed a good understanding with the likes of Ollie Watkins and Marco Asensio and enjoyed playing in a calmer environment.

There was plenty of chaos on and off the pitch at Old Trafford, which saw Rashford struggle.

Aston Villa given 5/2 odds to sign Rashford

Before his loan move to Villa Park, Rashford had been written off for a move to one of Europe’s top sides.

It appeared that he had reached his peak in Manchester and clubs vying for the Champions League or top European leagues would not want to sign him.

However, Barcelona are understood to be extremely keen on signing Rashford despite having quality out wide in Ansu Fati and Raphinha.

The La Liga champions are desperate to bring in new wingers and sporting director Deco has also admitted that Rashford and Liverpool ace Luis Diaz are among the players they’re looking at.

While Aston Villa had the option to sign Rashford for £40million, they opted against it but are still keen on bringing him to the club.

BetFred are offering 5/2 odds for him to reunite with Unai Emery and odds are shortening on that deal.

Rashford willing to take pay cut as he’s desperate to join Barcelona

Money is not understood to be a determining factor for the 27-year-old this summer.

Marca reported on 18 June that he’s not willing to give up on his dream to move to the Camp Nou.

Rashford is willing to take a pay cut in order to move to Barcelona, as that is his priority.

He’s even telling people around him that he wants to move to the Spanish first-tier champions in the coming weeks.

While Emery wants Rashford back at Villa, he knows that his side aren’t among the frontrunners to secure his services.

With odds shortening, they may be working behind the scenes to make something happen.
