‘Javier Guerra to become next Unai Emery star after Aston Villa transfer news’

Aston Villa have Valencia midfielder Javier Guerra in their sights this summer.

Monchi and Co. are facing strict financial constraints that they must find effective ways to work around if they want to strengthen Unai Emery’s squad ahead of next season.

The B6 outfit enjoyed another hugely promising campaign, but their failure to qualify for the Champions League on the final day of the season will have left a bitter taste at Villa Park.

Villa seem intent on adding to their midfield ranks, having already pursued a deal for Norwegian starlet Sverre Nypan, and they have now turned their attention to Guerra after failing elsewhere.

Aston Villa to battle Milan and Atletico Madrid for £21.2m Guerra deal

Emery has done a fantastic job in recent seasons to rebuild the Villans as a club and also boost their reputation.

Villa are now seen as a club who have a regular chance of playing European football and that will only help them in the transfer market.

That improved reputation now looks as though it will be put to the test, however, with Villa taking an interest in Guerra.

Atletico Madrid are also interested in the Valencia star, as well as AC Milan, who could have signed him this time last year, according to Daniele Longo (13 June).

The Spanish giants are believed to have set a £21.2million asking price on the midfielder, who is currently away playing for Spain in the U21 Euros.

Guerra could be a good long-term option for Villa

Guerra has enjoyed a fantastic season for Valencia, and that has been recognised by his involvement with the national team setup once again.

The 22-year-old played all 90 minutes of Spain’s victory over Slovakia in their opening game of the tournament (11 June), and he put in the kind of performance that will make him hard to drop as the competition progresses.

Guerra is a product of the Valencia academy and has already clocked up almost 100 appearances at senior level. He started 31 of the 38 La Liga games for Carlos Corberan’s side this term, and that looks to have caught the eye of clubs elsewhere.

Villa arguably don’t really require further additions to their midfield, as they already have some strong depth in the middle of the park, however, they will be surely keen to avoid missing out on another promising talent, after Nypan chose Manchester City.

He could leave Corberan behind to become the next wonder for Emery.
