Aston Villa have one deal ‘all but done’ but Man City now have agreement
Aston Villa know that they will have to invest sensibly this summer if they want to strengthen their squad.
Unai Emery’s side have been identified as the club that should have the most concern over Premier League’s PSR restrictions, despite being one of several teams who are currently toeing the line.
As a result, the Villans will have to be shrewd with their business this summer.
They will be desperate to bring Champions League football back to Villa Park, but they do not have money to burn like some of their competitors.

Villa are set to lose out on Sverre Nypan
Villa have already been linked with several potential incomings this summer, regardless of their current PSR position.
The deal to sign Feyenoord starlet, Zepiqueno Redmond, is thought to be all but done, while Emery, Monchi and Co. are working to strengthen their backline by attempting to convince Juventus’ Federico Gatti to move to Villa Park.
Sverre Nypan has been another major target for the B6 outfit, but the Norwegian midfielder is thought to be close to agreeing a deal to join Manchester City instead, according to The Athletic (11 June).
The 18-year-old has already played 70 senior games for Rosenborg in his homeland, and is in line to become the Norwegian league’s record sale, when personal terms are finalised.
City are expected to loan Nypan out for a season so that he can continue his development, having beaten off competition from several other Premier League sides to secure his signature.
Villa were one of those interested parties, and travelled to Norway to present their project to Nypan. However, they couldn’t strike a deal for the U21 international.
Losing out on Nypan is a blow for Villa
Given the reputation that Nypan is developing in Norway, Villa will be frustrated to have seemingly lost out in their attempt to bring him to Birmingham.
The youngster is extremely well thought of in his homeland, where is tipped to follow in the footsteps of Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard as one of his country’s next world-class talents.
| Season | Apps | Goals | Assists |

| 2024 | 29 | 8 | 7 |
| 2023 | 26 | 5 | 1 |

Nypan may not immediately be ready to step into the Premier League, but there is no doubting that his huge level of potential would have made him a very significant signing for Villa.
The Rosenborg man has been earmarked for big things in Norway for a number of years, and it would have been a major coup for Villa to have fought off the likes of City and Arsenal to sign him.
Nypan looks likely to carry a huge resale value in the future, but with the youngster now seemingly destined for the Etihad Stadium, Villa should turn their attention towards other possible targets.
