Marcus Rashford to ‘upset Aston Villa dressing room’ after massive transfer news

Aston Villa have been warned about signing Marcus Rashford this summer.

The Manchester United loanee has enjoyed a terrific resurgence at Villa Park, notching four goals and six assists in 17 matches before injury ended his campaign.

Unai Emery‘s side are keen to bring him back to B6, but they face competition from Barcelona for his services.

The Villans have a £40million option to buy the 27-year-old but that does not come with first refusal, so other clubs could tempt the former Old Trafford star.

Agbonlahor tells Aston Villa to avoid Rashford transfer

Rashford’s remarkable turnaround under Emery’s tutelage has led to suggestions that he should make the move permanent this summer.

However, former Villan Gabby Agbonlahor is not in the camp and told his ex-club to abandon their plans to sign the England ace due to his lofty wage demands, which could be above £300,000-a-week.

Speaking live on talkSPORT (2 June, 8:58 am), he said: “The main reason why I don’t think he should come is he will upset the changing room.

“If you’re Morgan Rogers, you’re Watkins, you’re Konsa, Martinez, Rashford is coming in on £300,000-a-week, well, I want that, that is what happens in changing rooms.

“The £40million is not the problem, it is the wages, Aston Villa’s wage bill is massive, I think it might be over 90 per cent of their revenue, so you can’t really be going over the £200,000-a-week that they pay to give someone 300.”

Rashford transfer should not be priority for Villa

There are several reasons why a move for Rashford does not make sense for the Villans right now.

For starters, he has ambitions to play in the Champions League, and they fell short of qualifying for the competition on the final day.

Secondly, his heart is set on a move to the Catalan giants, and is reportedly willing to take a pay cut to achieve the dream move, so it seems that Villa would be wasting their time pursuing him.

Agbonlahor’s reasoning is another factor; Emery and Monchi will not want to risk unsettling the rest of the squad, ahead of a pivotal summer, in which there could be significant interest in their key players, like Rogers, who has been linked with Liverpool and Chelsea.

Finally, he may have just hit a purple patch of form this season and could revert back to type next campaign, so it would be a huge gamble to sign him on such high wages.

The B6 outfit should be focusing on ensuring a sustainable financial future, considering the Profit and Sustainability (PSR) issues that they have right now, which threatens to derail their summer business.

Throwing a whopping amount of money at Rashford and hoping he takes it, would be a sign of the exact opposite and therefore should be avoided at all costs.
