Aston Villa fans ‘to be furious with NSWE’ after recent announcement

Aston Villa supporters have once again received some bad news after a new announcement.

A largely positive season ended disappointingly for Aston Villa.

Unai Emery’s side narrowly missed out on a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League after a controversial 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on the final day of the Premier League season (25 May).

And it looks as though the bad news just keeps on coming for supporters at Villa Park.

Aston Villa hit fans with season ticket price rise

Aston Villa officially confirmed on Thursday (29 May) that season ticket and match-by-match prices for adults are set to increase by five per cent next season.

Villa’s statement claims that this decision is consistent with several other Premier League clubs, and is one which has been made to ensure as strong a team as possible can be created to allow Villa to continue to compete in the Premier League and Europe.

While adults will need to fork out more money to watch their team at Villa Park next season, it was confirmed that Under-21 ticket prices will be frozen

This decision, no doubt, aims to safeguard and encourage the next generation of Villa supporters, ensuring young fans can continue to flock to Villa Park and cheer on their beloved team without facing an immediate financial squeeze.

Aston Villa supporters unlikely to be impressed

There’s no doubt this news is unlikely to go down well among the Villa fans.

NSWE will point to the incredible entertainment value delivered this season, as well as the continued progress under Emery.

In addition, the desire to remain competitive at the top end of the Premier League will also not be forgotten by the supporters.

However, a five per cent jump is not insignificant, especially in the current economic climate.

With the cost of living still a major concern for many families, some Villa supporters will question the timing and magnitude of the increase. Loyalty is a two-way street, and the financial burden on devoted fans is always a sensitive topic.
