‘Aston Villa to sign Marcus Rashford as Man United exit now sealed’

Marcus Rashford’s future at Man United is becoming increasingly clear, and a permanent return to Aston Villa could be on the cards.

With the Premier League season now curtailed and Europa League confirmed, Aston Villa will already be hard at work when it comes to putting plans in place for the summer transfer window.

After the disappointment of missing out on Champions League qualification, albeit down to a horrendous moment of officiating, Unai Emery will undoubtedly be keen to bolster his squad and take them one step further next season.

Attacking reinforcements will be high on the list of priorities at Villa Park this summer, and the latest update from Manchester could be cause for optimism.

Matheus Cunha arrival to push Rashford out of Old Trafford

Ever since the arrival of Ruben Amorim at Man United, Rashford’s future at Old Trafford has been up in the air, though it seems to be coming to a conclusion.

The Red Devils are said to have agreed a deal to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves, who is set to wear the number 10 shirt once worn by the likes of Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

That shirt number is currently assigned to Rashford, but United are willing to give it to Cunha [talkSPORT], which can only be seen as a sign that they are planning to offload him this summer.

Rashford enjoyed a fruitful spell at Aston Villa under Emery, and if reasonable demands can be met, there is every chance that he could return this summer as a permanent addition.

Emery must be backed in the summer

Even before players depart Villa Park, it is evident that Villa are in need of some quality additions in the summer transfer window to bridge the gap on those above them.

With Newcastle securing Champions League football at Villa’s expense, they will be boosted massively, and recruitment will be the only way that Villa can keep up the pace with them and the others next season.

While Europa League football wasn’t the aim, it provides the Villans with an excellent chance to win a European trophy, though squad depth will be needed for that to be the case.
