Youri Tielemans ‘disappointment’ emerges at Aston Villa after Saudi transfer reveal

Youri Tielemans was crowned Aston Villa Player of the Year, but could be on his way out in the summer.

The Belgium international has been sensational since signing from Leicester City on a free, forming a superb partnership with Boubacar Kamara in B6.

This has seen the 28-year-old become arguably the most important player under Unai Emery this season, despite picking up an injury in the final weeks of the campaign.

With just one Premier League game remaining, the clock may now be ticking on Tielemans’ Villa spell after transfer links to Saudi Arabia.

Tielemans could disappoint Aston Villa in summer move

There is no doubt that the ex-Monaco man’s stock was at a low when his contract came to an end, as Leicester were relegated to the Championship.

Despite some negative reviews at the King Power, the Belgian has been excellent in claret and blue across his two seasons to date.

As a result, the Villa Park faithful will be keen to keep hold of Tielemans moving forward, despite links to the Saudi Pro League.

Looking ahead to the summer, former Foxes and Brentford manager Martin Allen has revealed his disappointment surrounding the Belgian midfielder’s potential exit.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Allen said: “Tielemans was a free transfer, and he has been absolutely outstanding.

He’s gone up another level this season with Douglas Luiz moving out the way, and he’s taken hold of the position to make it his own.

Would he want to go to Saudi Arabia? I very much doubt it, he’s got far too much top-level football to play, and he’s still a good player with years ahead of him.

I’d be disappointed in him if he were to make that move happen.

Aston Villa can’t let Tielemans leave

Of course, financial issues are going to take hold in the summer, but selling such a key asset would certainly feel like a mistake.

With Tielemans being linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, a large fee and contract offer is likely to be in the pipeline, but a deal still shouldn’t be accepted.

Emi Martinez has undergone similar transfer scrutiny with an exit looking likely for the Argentine, much to the frustration of supporters.

It will certainly make for an interesting window, but losing either one of these stars, or both, could prove to be the beginning of Villa’s downfall.
