Emi Martinez sends emotional thank you message at Aston Villa as exit looms

Emi Martinez could have one foot out the door ahead of the summer at Aston Villa.

The Argentina international cut an emotional figure after the Villans secured a win against Tottenham in their final home game of the season.

This saw the 32-year-old wipe tears from his eyes as he appeared to wave goodbye to supporters as Unai Emery’s side continues the race for Champions League qualification.

With just one clash against Manchester United remaining in the Premier League, Martinez has now penned a thank-you message from B6.

Martinez in emotional statement at Aston Villa

There is not one Villa fan who will want the keeper to depart Villa Park at the end of the season after such an excellent spell since signing from Arsenal.

In his five years as number one in the Midlands, the keeper has made well over 200 appearances and been extremely impressive in that time.

With that being said, links between Martinez and the Saudi Pro League have certainly come as a surprise with the summer window edging closer.

It is unclear how much the Villans would recoup for the Argentine, but there is no doubt that a Saudi Arabian bid would feature a sizable fee and contract offer.

With that in mind, the shot-stopper has now shared a message via Instagram (24 May) to thank his goalkeeping colleagues for their work at Bodymoor Heath.

He said: “It’s been a long and hard season, but working with people you love is always easier.
Thank you guys.”

Martinez message may not mean goodbye

At the moment, everything that Martinez does and says is being examined in every possible fashion by the Villa Park faithful.

This has seen this message be analysed in extreme detail already, despite only featuring 19 words, fans have been left concerned by this.

They may not have to be worried, however, as the Argentine sent a similar message to his social media pages 12 months ago.

His relationship with the coaching staff and fellow keeper Robin Olsen has always been key to his success at Villa Park, with this message just being another example.

As supporters await an update on the future of the keeper, overthinking every small detail isn’t going to help, especially as the Manchester United clash looms.
