Aston Villa in talks for Chevalier transfer after Martinez exit revelation
Aston Villa are one game away from knowing their fate for the 2025/26 Premier League season.
The Villans are set to play Manchester United in the final game of the season and must win to have a chance of securing Champions League football.
Once that is confirmed, Unai Emery can prepare for a key summer as he strives to strengthen his side.
One player who looks to be leaving Villa Park is Emi Martinez, and the West Midlands club have found their replacement.

Aston Villa identify Lucas Chevalier to replace Martinez
Martinez must go down as one of Villa’s greatest signings in their recent history.
The goalkeeper came across as a shy and modest figure while at Arsenal, where he was very much a number two.
However, since moving to Villa Park, the Argentine has been a completely different beast.
Appearances | Goals conceded | Clean sheets |
211 | 256 | 69 |
As his confidence has increased, so has his charisma and goalkeeping ability, becoming one of the best shot-stoppers in the world.
Having lifted the World Cup in Qatar, the 32-year-old has guided Villa to Champions League football.
However, as he waved goodbye to Villa Park in tears, it seems his time at the West Midlands club has run its course.
While he has interest from Saudi Arabia, Man United have reportedly tabled an offer to sign Martinez in a recent exit revelation report.
As he looks set to depart, the Villans have identified and approached Lucas Chevalier, according to Sacha Tavolieri via X (23 May).
The Belgian football journalist claims the West Midlands club see Chevalier as the ideal replacement in the event of Martinez leaving.

Martinez a tough act to follow
The Argentine has made a name for himself in football because of his exploits for Aston Villa.
They are the club who have shaped his career, and in doing so, he has become a modern-day legend at Villa Park.
His leadership, shot-stopping ability, and penalty saves have all been a feature of his stint and will be sorely missed.
Of course, the time comes when star players must leave, but there would be a bitter taste if he were to go to Old Trafford.
Villa’s situation is made worse by financial issues, meaning they will likely have to sell one of their prized assets.
A record transfer fee has been mooted for the 32-year-old, and Emery’s side may well have to accept it.
