Jhon Duran calls out former Aston Villa team-mate after new announcement

Jhon Duran has reacted on social media after an announcement emerged at Aston Villa.

The Colombia international departed Villa Park in January after a superb opening six months to the Premier League campaign.

Despite his successes, the 21-year-old departed for Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr in the winter for over £60million.

This has seen Duran have very little to do with the Villans ever since, but that changed on Wednesday night (21 May) as he spoke out on social media.

Duran sparks annoyance with Aston Villa comment

There is no doubt that the ex-Chicago Fire ace was one of Villa’s best and most exciting players in his opening 29 appearances of the current campaign.

This saw the number nine net 12 goals with three coming in the Champions League against Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Bologna.

As a result, it was of great frustration to see him leave, but it did feel necessary after reports of attitude issues towards Unai Emery.

It is fair to say that these sorts of problems are still on show with his recent comment after John McGinn won the Villa goal of the season award on 22 May.

The Scots strike against PSG secured the fan-voted trophy ahead of the likes of Amadou Onana, Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins.

Many fans believed that Duran was deserving of the award after scoring wonder goals against both Bayern Munich and Everton this season.

This was echoed by the striker in Rogers’ Instagram comments on 22 May as he said: “I won the goal of the season, didn’t I?”

With the addition of a confused emoji, it does feel as if the Al-Nassr forward was doing this in a typical tongue-in-cheek nature, but it still hasn’t gone down well with many fans on social media.

Duran in tongue-and-cheek Aston Villa reaction

Although Duran may have reacted in a funny fashion after missing out on an award at the yearly night in the Holte Suite in B6, it is fair to say that he deserved one.

The Colombian easily scored two, if not three, of the Villans’ best goals this season and did deserve the acclaim of those strikes.

It is understandable why Villa opted against putting him in the voting after his winter departure, but even McGinn referenced the striker’s exit in his acceptance speech.

This says everything about the quality of his goals, and with the comment to old friend Rogers feels like the perfect reaction from Duran.
