Aston Villa make official Morgan Rogers announcement

Morgan Rogers has emerged as a star at Aston Villa this season.

In his first full season of Premier League football, the 22-year-old has become an integral part of Unai Emery’s side, playing regularly in domestic and European football.

As a result of his impressive form, Rogers has been linked with a move away from the West Midlands in the summer transfer window, with Liverpool one side credited with interest.

Rogers gets Premier League recognition

Aston Villa have had a strong season and are eager to end it on a high note, securing another season of Champions League football.

Rogers will no doubt continue to be a core part of that, having received plenty of praise for his performances in what has been a breakthrough season.

It is not just in the West Midlands that the 22-year-old has impressed, either. Thomas Tuchel called him up to the England squad, where he gave a good display of himself.

With all of that taken into account, it comes as no surprise that Aston Villa have announced that Rogers has been nominated for the Premier League’s young player of the season award.

Aston Villa must retain Rogers this summer

It’s not too surprising that there has been interest in Rogers ahead of the summer transfer window, with the youngster registering good numbers at the top end of the pitch.

Rogers has been excellent for Aston Villa.

At such a young age, he must be seen as an exciting asset at Villa Park, with plenty of talent left to be unleashed.

Thankfully for Emery, his side is under no pressure to sell several players as it stands, meaning they are in the driving seat when it comes to where his future lies, despite interest from elsewhere.

In addition to this, Rogers would probably accept that he is best placed where he is for the time being, with the opportunity to continue getting regular minutes under his belt and becoming a focal point of a top side.

The battle for the young player of the season award is tough, but this is exactly the type of recognition that the Villa star deserves after a successful year.

The 22-year-old will no doubt be able to use it as a boost in the final weeks of the campaign, as he tries to push his side to a top-five finish.
