Agbonlahor taken aback by Watkins and Aston Villa exit jaw-dropper he’s told on air
Gabby Agbonlahor was shocked by the latest Ollie Watkins exit claim made at Aston Villa.
With two Premier League games remaining, Aston Villa‘s only focus will be on securing Champions League football for the next campaign.
However, once they know their fate, the Villans will have plenty of planning to do and deiciosn to make ahead of the summer transfer window.
Recruitment is going to be crucial at Villa Park, but the future of several first-teamers is going to be just as important amid exit links with Watkins.

Alan Brazil tells Watkins to quit Aston Villa
Ever since the arrival of Marcus Rashford, Watkins has found himself on the bench far more often than he would have liked this season.
Rashford had been the go-to option for most of their Champions League encounters, despite Watkins having played a crucial role in getting them there, and Alan Brazil thinks he should leave in the summer, to the surprise of Agbonlahor.
Aston Villa | Games played (All competitions) | Goals | Assists |
Watkins | 223 | 87 | 40 |
Seaking via talkSPORT (15 May, 9:13am), Brazil said: “If I was [Watkins], I’d be considering my future,” to which Agbonlahor questioned “Why’s that?”
Brazil claimed: “Because Rashford comes in on loan, Ollie’s gone down [the pecking order], Marcus is going back. It’s not on.”
Aston Villa fans will undoubtedly want to see Watkins stay, but the majority will see the argument from Brazil’s point of view.

Unai Emery must show faith in Watkins
In Watkins’ position, the key for him is to feel wanted and needed at Aston Villa, which has arguably not been the case since Rashford arrived.
If they want to keep him, Unai Emery needs to show that he is important to their future aspirations and reward him with minutes on the pitch and confidence in his performances.
Watkins’ exit would leave Villa with a mountain of work to do in the summer, and finding a replacement would be the most difficult task they have faced yet.
For now though, Champions League qualification is the only thing that holds any real importance ahead of the final two Premier League games of the season.
