Diego Carlos bombshell emerges already after Aston Villa exit
Aston Villa opted to sell Diego Carlos to Fenerbahce in the January transfer window.
The Brazilian had become a bit-part player under Unai Emery, and given his sizable wages made sense to sell to help ease PSR concerns.
After searching for a potential buyer, the 32-year-old eventually joined the Turkish outfit to feature under Jose Mourinho for the rest of the season.
Despite only featuring for the Super Lig outfit for four months, a fresh development has emerged for Carlos ahead of the summer window.

Carlos already linked to Fenerbahce exit
It is fair to say that Villa somewhat regretted parting ways with the ex-Sevilla man immediately after his departure from B6.
This came as injury issues forced the likes of Lucas Digne and Boubacar Kamara to feature at centre-back due to a number of absences.
Now, with everyone back fit, the sale appears to have been perfect for the Villans, but hasn’t really worked out for the Brazilian defender.
With just five appearances in all competitions under his belt due to consistent injury issues, there is little positivity surrounding the centre-back in Istanbul.

This has seen Sebastien Vidal report (12 May) that Fenerbahce are already looking to push Carlos out the door in the summer window.
After a lack of minutes due to fitness problems, the Turkish outfit are set to “get rid” of the former Villa man and are in search of a buyer.
Aston Villa right to sell Carlos
With Emery and Monchi at the helm, Villa have made a number of excellent decisions in the market, which have reflected well on them.
This saw Danny Ings depart for upwards of £10million in 2023 before being released at the end of the current season after scoring just five goals.
Carlos is yet another positive example of this, departing after a lacklustre campaign before seriously struggling after his move.
Now it feels as if Fenerbahce will struggle to shift the defender while Villa continue forward with the likes of Tyrone Mings and Disasi as backup options.
