Aston Villa insider reveals next Rashford destination amid ‘financial problems’

Marcus Rashford has a decision to make over his next club as the summer transfer window looms at Aston Villa.

The England international moved to Villa Park in the winter window and had a positive spell before picking up a potential season-ending injury.

There is no doubt that the 27-year-old caught the eye in his cameos in claret and blue, becoming a regular under Unai Emery in B6.

As a result, there are plenty of questions emerging ahead of the summer, which will see Rashford make a telling decision for his future.

Aston Villa to learn Rashford transfer decision

It is likely to be a busy window in the Midlands for Monchi and Co. as a number of incoming and outgoing deals have already been mooted.

With PSR issues also coming into light in B6 ahead of the summer, there will have to be a number of decisions weighed up by the Villans.

Although that may be the case, the signing of Rashford could prove to be too good to turn down from a playing and commercial sense at Villa Park.

This will see Emery’s side await a decision from the Manchester United man over where his future lies, ready for the new campaign.

With that being said, former Man United and Aston Villa scout Mick Brown, who still has strong ties to his former sides, has revealed to Football Insider (12 May) that the loanee is keen on a switch to Barcelona in the summer.

He said: “Marcus Rashford wants to join Barcelona. The issue is, they’re one of the teams who have had financial problems, so they need to sort out their finances before they can make that move.

“A lot of their business will be governed by players they can sell this summer. I think Rashford would be a good fit in many ways, and he’s a player they’re definitely looking at.

“Wherever he goes, he’s going to have to make accommodations over his wages, that’s why it looks like he won’t be staying at Villa. He’s just changed agents with the intention of getting a move, so it’s a case of watch this space.”

Aston Villa look set to miss out on Rashford deal

There would be a large number of Villa fans who would love to see Rashford with a full season under the tutelage of Emery.

It is fair to say that the Englishman drastically improved game-on-game under the Spanish head coach and could benefit from further training at Bodymoor.

Even if that may be the case, it appears that Rashford sees his future away from Villa Park and at a top side like Barcelona.

This will likely be music to the ears of Ollie Watkins but may prove to be a disappointment for other figures for the Villans moving forward.
