Inter star reacts to Lucas Digne’s Aston Villa message
Lucas Digne helped Aston Villa keep a clean sheet in their 1-0 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday.
Unai Emery’s men have now claimed 18 Premier League wins this term, and have just two games remaining as they look to land a Champions League spot for the second consecutive season.
Villa’s top-five chances were bolstered by Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat to Newcastle on Sunday, while Manchester City were held to a 0-0 draw by already-relegated Southampton on Saturday.
The men from Villa Park face Tottenham in their next Premier League encounter on Friday (16 May).

After Emery’s men beat Bournemouth on Saturday, the 31-year-old posted on Instagram (11 May): “3 points. Clean sheet. We keep pushing. Congrats Ollie Watkins.”
Inter star Ben Pavard gave the post a like, while he will hope to recover from his current ankle injury in time for the Champions League final.
Villa will believe they can still get Champions League football
Villa’s season was in danger of petering out when they were beaten 3-0 by Crystal Palace in their FA Cup semi-final on 26 April.
But since then, the West Midlands giants have shown admirable character to earn consecutive Premier League victories over Fulham and Bournemouth.
The highlight of Villa’s victory over the Cherries came when Watkins became the top-flight club’s all-time leading Premier League scorer.
But, significantly, Emery’s side are now level on points with fifth-place Chelsea with only two games remaining, while Enzo Maresca’s men could struggle to bounce back from Sunday’s defeat to fellow Champions League chasers Newcastle.
Villa know they are capable of defeating Tottenham and Manchester United in their last two games, and can hope for one of their top-five rivals to slip up.
Furthermore, Ange Postecoglou’s men already have their sights firmly set on the Europa League final and will field a weakened side at Villa Park on Friday.
