Kamara stuns on Sky Sports in ‘glorious’ moment in Bournemouth v Aston Villa

Boubacar Kamara left Alan Smith shocked as Aston Villa earned a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday.

Aston Villa kept their hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League with a hard-earned win against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on 10 May.

Ollie Watkins‘ goal right at the stroke of half-time was enough for Unai Emery’s side to leave Dorset with all three points.

With that, the Villa Park outfit have moved to sixth place in the Premier League, sitting level on points with fourth-place Newcastle and fifth-placed Chelsea, who have a game in hand, however.

Smith slams Kamara on Sky Sports

Kamara was among those who fought hard for the win against Bournemouth, especially after Aston Villa went a man down following Jacob Ramsey’s sending off in the 80th minute.

However, the Frenchman left much to be desired for Smith at one point, as he missed a ‘glorious’ goalscoring chance just before Watkins put Villa in front.

The Sky Sports pundit was of the view that chance was the best one in the game until that point and suggested that a striker would have found the back of the net.

He went on to slam Kamara for making life easier for Kepa Arrizabalaga, who stopped the midfielder’s attempt with ease.

“Best chance of the match by far”, Smith said on Sky Sports Main Event (6:15 pm).

“Kamara has seen this coming from a distance. Would a striker have buried this and got it on either side of the keeper?

“It’s a let-off because it’s a glorious chance this, really is. It’s a good step, yes, but it gives Arrizabalaga a chance.”

Aston Villa in for big end to season

Aston Villa are now in for an exciting end to their Premier League season, as they push to finish in the top five and qualify for the Champions League.

The Birmingham-based side will lock horns with Tottenham at Villa Park in their final home game of the season next Friday, 16 May.

They will then face Manchester United in their season finale on 25 May.

Winning both those games should be enough for Emery’s side to qualify for Europe’s premier competition.
