‘Unai Emery will have eye on Man United’ as summer move mooted at Aston Villa

Aston Villa could have their summer dictated by Manchester United as Unai Emery awaits their Europa League results.

The Spaniard has had an excellent season with the Villans and will be hopeful of a positive end to the year despite the Crystal Palace defeat.

Just four games remain before the transfer window comes into focus and changes are made throughout the Premier League.

With that in mind, Emery will have a focus on the Red Devils in the coming days as a potential summer of change looms at Villa Park.

Manchester United could dictate Emery decision in summer

There has been so much positivity surrounding the B6 club since the 53-year-old came in from Villarreal in place of Steven Gerrard.

This has seen Villa leap from relegation threatened to the Champions League quarter-finals in less than three seasons, a monumental achievement.

As a result, it would be little surprise to see Emery linked with a move away from the Midlands in the near future.

Although there is a prospect of losing the Spanish head coach, he and Monchi will still have a focus on the upcoming transfer window.

This could see Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams emerge as a target once again, with Gabby Agbonlahor suggesting Emery is still “an admirer” of the forward.

This potential deal could rely on the LaLiga outfit’s qualification for the Champions League, which could be earned through the Europa League.

Bilbao face Manchester United in the semi-finals of the competition, and if Ruben Amorim’s side can secure progression to the final, it may make life easier for Emery to land Williams.

As a result, the Villa boss is likely to have one eye on the result in Spain on 1 April with the summer window in mind.

Williams could be set for Aston Villa move

There is no doubt that the Spain international would represent an exciting signing for the Villans if it could be pushed over the line.

This could ultimately hinge on both sides’ progress in qualifying for the Champions League with just weeks remaining of the season.

As a result, Villa will be hoping for another favour from Man United after already taking Marcus Rashford from them in the winter.
