NSWE to sell Aston Villa stake in shock twist amid £60m development
Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens are planning big changes at Aston Villa as the season draws to a close.
Aston Villa have made major strides forward under NSWE, with the appointment of Unai Emery as their manager in 2022 proving to be a masterstroke.
After reaching the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League this season, the Villans are hopeful of qualifying for the elite European competition again.
Meanwhile, Sawiris has shed light on his intention to inject £100million into the Birmingham-based club amid plans to increase the capacity of Villa Park to over 50,000.

NSWE to sell stake in Aston Villa Women
In a sudden turn of events, it has emerged that Aston Villa are considering selling a stake in their women’s team.
Villa are open to selling a 10 to 20 per cent stake of their women’s team at Villa Park, according to Bloomberg.
The financial media company reported via their website on Monday (28 April) that the Women’s Super League club are already attracting interest from people backing teams in the US National Women’s Soccer League.
Meanwhile, NSWE could hold out for a valuation of up to £60m amid the increasing valuation of women’s football teams.
Position | Matches | Wins | Draws | Losses | Points |

However, there is still no agreement over such a sale and it is still possible that the Aston Villa owners end up not selling any part of the women’s team.
Owners of clubs in the UK have been considering selling stakes in their ladies’ teams to raise funds and balance their books, with Villa the latest to take a similar route.
Villa want to balance their books
It is worth noting that the revenue from women’s football remains small despite the increasing interest in it.
The Aston Villa ladies’ team reportedly posted a revenue of £6.3m in 2023-24, highlighting the parity between the finances in the men’s and women’s games.
It remains to be seen if NSWE will go ahead with plans to sell a minority stake in Villa’s women’s team to help raise funds.
