Aston Villa ‘to offer Kevin De Bruyne £50m contract’ after Sky Sports update

Kevin De Bruyne could be made an offer too difficult to refuse to join Aston Villa this summer.

Despite the disappointing 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Saturday (27 April), it cannot be ignored what a wonderful job Unai Emery is doing at Villa Park.

Therefore, as shock calls for Emery to be sacked emerge, it is important for Villa fans to remember how far the club has come in such a short space of time.

This is highlighted by the fact that the Villans were able to attract the likes of Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio to join the club in the winter transfer window. However, it looks as though NSWE are now aiming even higher, with a lucrative contract offer for De Bruyne on the cards.

Aston Villa hold internal talks over De Bruyne signing

For all of the success Villa are experiencing, it of course comes at a cost, with players expected to demand pay rises from NSWE.

However, it looks as though Villa’s owners are set for a major financial boost at Villa Park, and that could lead to the West Midlands-based outfit making De Bruyne a lucrative contract offer.

As reported by Sky Sports News (24 April), Villa have held internal discussions about signing De Bruyne.

Gabby Agbonlahor cannot see a deal being agreed due to De Bruyne’s wages. However, ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – disagrees, and has suggested that NSWE could offer the Belgian a rather lucrative contract in the West Midlands.

“I’d imagine Villa might offer him a two-year contract,” King said.

“With him joining the club on a free transfer, the wages that Manchester City weren’t prepared to pay, Villa could perhaps afford to pay, as they don’t need to pay a fee.

“De Bruyne is at least worth £50million. Therefore, Villa could spread that value across a two-year contract. This is a big-name player who knows what the UEFA Champions League and Premier League is all about. He’s a winner, and no matter what you say about Villa, they haven’t won anything in a long time.

“De Bruyne would bring that culture to the football club. I couldn’t see any reason why Villa wouldn’t want to bring a player of that quality into their squad.”

De Bruyne would be a game-changing signing at Aston Villa

It was only a few years ago that Villa supporters would have laughed off suggestions of De Bruyne signing a contract at Villa Park.

Therefore, this demonstrates how far Emery’s side have come, and despite De Bruyne’s age, his quality and experience could be exactly what is needed to take Villa to the next level.
