Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers responds to Bellingham announcement

Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers failed to produce one of his better performances when Unai Emery’s men were beaten by Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semi-final.

After suffering a 3-0 defeat at Wembley on Saturday, Villa will now have to wait another season to clinch silverware.

Meanwhile, the Villa Park outfit are now three points below the Champions League places after enduring a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on 22 April.

Jobe Bellingham lands top EFL award

Rogers has notched eight goals and eight assists in 33 Premier League outings for Emery’s men this season.

Meanwhile, former Birmingham City man Jobe Bellingham, who now plays for Sunderland, was announced by the EFL as the Championship’s Young Player of the Year.

Bellingham wrote on Instagram (28 April): “Team of the Season and Young Player of the Season. Extremely grateful for the support of everyone around me. Not done yet.”

Rogers gave the post a like and also commented with a red heart emoji.

Villa must get back to winning ways

Villa will be gutted that their FA Cup journey came to a somewhat embarrassing ending when they were beaten 3-0 by Palace at Wembley.

But after reaching the Champions League quarter-finals this term, Emery’s men will be eager to sit at the top table of European football once again next season.

However, the West Midlands giants currently sit three points below the top five, while fellow Champions League chasers Nottingham Forest boast a game in hand over the men in claret and blue.

To get their top five chances back on track, Emery’s side must get back to winning ways when they host Fulham on Saturday before travelling to Bournemouth.

Although both Bournemouth and Fulham are eyeing the European places, Villa have a somewhat favourable run in as they take on Tottenham and Manchester United in their last two games.

Both Ange Postecoglou’s men and the Red Devils are set to finish in the bottom half of the Premier League, far below Emery’s men.
