Aston Villa star Youri Tielemans sends message as major exit news confirmed

Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans has been exceptional as of late, and is proving to be one of the best signings in recent years.

Tielemans joined Aston Villa from Leicester City, after the Foxes were relegated in the summer of 2023, and the midfielder moved on a free transfer.

The Belgian was a top performer at Leicester, and he even scored in their FA Cup final victory over Chelsea in 2021.

Tielemans has since become a crucial player for Unai Emery, and he will now hope to add more trophies to his cabinet after moving up to Villa from Leicester.

Tielemans sends message after Jamie Vardy announcement

Tielemans played alongside Premier League icon Jamie Vardy during his time at Leicester, and the former England international has now made a big announcement.

With Leicester relegated again this season, Vardy has now confirmed that he will leave the Foxes at the end of the season, after over a decade at the King Power Stadium.

Vardy took to Instagram to announce his farewell, and his former teammate Tielemans responded, as he replied with emojis referring to the striker as ‘the GOAT.’

Vardy’s record against Aston Villa

Villa fans may be glad to see the back of Vardy in the Premier League, as the striker has terrorised the Villains on several occasions.

When Leicester famously won the Premier League in 2015-16, a monumental clash at the start of the season set the tone for both teams. Villa were 2-0 up against Leicester, but Vardy scored as they came back to win 3-2.

Leicester finished top and Villa bottom that season, but this was not the end of Vardy’s torment, as he scored four times against Villa in one campaign in 2019-20, with two braces in 4-0 and 4-1 wins.

Vardy has won six of his 13 Premier League appearances against Villa, scoring five times, and he will not add to this total as the two sides have already faced each other twice this season.

The 38-year-old played in both games as Villa beat Leicester 2-1 home and away this season, with Ross Barkley, Leon Bailey, Amadou Onana and Jhon Duran all on the scoresheets.
