Aston Villa goalkeeper agrees long-term contract to quit Villa Park for good
Aston Villa are expected to see players in and out of the door in the coming weeks and months until the end of the transfer window.
Having gone deep in the Champions League this season, Unai Emery will want to achieve something similar next season as well, should they manage to qualify.
The Spaniard will also have to deal with certain players leaving Villa Park either on a temporary or permanent basis.
Robin Olsen set for Villa Park exit this summer
One player who’s not expected to be at Villa Park next season is reserve goalkeeper Robin Olsen.
The 35-year-old joined the Lions back in 2022 and has only made a handful of first-team appearances while being the understudy to Emi Martinez.
His contract at Villa is set to run out at the end of the season and it does not look like he will be staying put.

According to Sportbladet journalist Daniel Kristoffersson, the Sweden international is ready to return to Malmo.
He has already reached a contractual agreement and will be moving to the Swedish club once the transfer window opens.
Via X, Kristoffersson wrote: “Robin Olsen is ready for Malmö FF. Aston Villa and the national team goalkeeper has agreed a contract with MFF and will join the club this summer.”
Aston Villa must begin the search for a new goalkeeper
Aston Villa must urgently begin their search for a reliable goalkeeper to serve as Martinez’s backup, as Olsen is set to depart.
Olsen has often struggled to inspire confidence when called upon.
With his contract nearing its end and interest from the Swedish club, Villa face the challenge of securing a capable deputy for Martinez, whose world-class performances have been pivotal to the team’s success.
The new goalkeeper must be prepared to play a supporting role, yet be ready to step up during Martinez’s potential absences due to international duties or injuries.
Finding a player with the right balance of skill, experience and willingness to accept limited game time will be crucial.
As Villa aim to compete in both domestic and European competitions, a dependable backup goalkeeper is essential to maintain defensive stability and ensure the team’s ambitions remain on track in the 2025-26 season.
