Marcus Rashford must make ‘personal sacrifice’ to finalise Aston Villa transfer now

Marcus Rashford will likely be the transfer saga of the summer after his loan spell at Aston Villa.

The 27-year-old is currently at Villa on loan until the end of the season after his public falling out with Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim.

Rashford and Amorim came to blows during their time working together, with the United boss refusing to play the winger as he publicly called out his effort in training.

However, as the end of the season approaches a decision needs to be made between all parties about what the future looks like for the forward, who has settled under Unai Emery.

Rashford will need to make a decision

Villa have the option to sign Rashford permanently at the end of the season for £40million if they want to keep him.

That’s something that Emery may want to do, and the Midlands side can financially afford the move to bring him in.

However, Graeme Bailey has shared that his wages are a massive issue for Villa, or any other interested club, which could lead to him returning to United.

Given the fact that Amorim doesn’t want him, going back to the 20-time champions could completely derail his career just as he got back into the England setup under Thomas Tuchel.

Therefore, if Rashford wants to play regular first-team football in a bid to play for his country, he will likely need to take a pay cut.

It’s a tough decision for him to make financially, but given his form in recent years, it is going to be hard for many clubs to justify paying him what he’s making currently at United.

Marcus Rashford needs to move on

Leaving behind great money isn’t an easy decision for anyone to make, especially a player of Rashford’s quality who could still make an impact for United if given the chance.

However, after working hard in the second half of this season to get himself back in the conversation of being a top-class forward, it would be a backwards step to just sit on his wages and train.

Rashford staying at United would be a risky move for his career at this stage, and given that Villa are on the rise, taking the personal hit might be in his best interest; after all, he’s still going to be earning a fantastic living.
