Aston Villa final Premier League position predicted by supercomputer after Man City loss
Aston Villa fell to a brutal defeat at Manchester City in a crucial match in the race for a Premier League top-five spot on Tuesday evening.
Unai Emery’s side headed into the game one point behind the champions and eager to gain ground in the battle to finish in a Champions League spot.
However, a last-minute goal from Matheus Nunes handed Villa a 2-1 defeat, after a disappointing 90 minutes at the Etihad Stadium.
Villa need to finish in the top five to secure a Champions League spot for next season, but this will be a hugely difficult task following the defeat to Pep Guardiola’s team.

Aston Villa final Premier League position predicted
Villa are currently seventh in the Premier League following their defeat to Man City, and are secure there as they sit eight points above Bournemouth, who have played a game less.
However, their top-five hopes have been heavily dented by the loss to City, who are now four points ahead of them in third place.
Opta’s supercomputer has predicted Villa to finish in seventh, with a final points tally estimated to be around 63.97.
Opponent | Result |
PSG (A) | 3-1 L |
Southampton (A) | 0-3 W |
PSG (H) | 3-2 W |
Newcastle (H) | 4-1 W |
Man City (A) | 2-1 L |
This is marginally behind Chelsea in sixth and Newcastle in fifth, with Nottingham Forest backed to seal a historic top-four finish and City expected to see the season out in third place.
Villa’s chances of finishing in a Champions League place have been rated at just 16.5 per cent, and it appears unlikely that they will overtake their rivals in the race again.

Aston Villa need FA Cup victory
Aston Villa were enjoying a strong campaign as they attempted to compete on three fronts, but were eliminated from the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain.
They now appear to be almost out of the running to qualify for Europe’s elite competition, but that does not mean there is nothing to play for.
Villa are set to face Crystal Palace at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-finals, and this is Emery’s last chance of silverware.
If Villa do win the FA Cup, this will be a monumental season, even if they do not qualify for the Champions League, but a defeat to Palace could see this campaign grind to a disappointing halt.
