Collymore fumes at what Marcus Rashford did in Aston Villa defeat v Man City
Stan Collymore was left baffled by Marcus Rashford as Aston Villa suffered a late 2-1 defeat against Manchester City on Tuesday.
The England international was on the scoresheet as the Villans suffered their first loss in five Premier League games at the hands of the Champions.
A 94th-minute strike from Matheus Nunes proved to be the difference after Jeremy Doku had Axel Disasi on toast down the Villa right.
As devastating as the result was for those in claret and blue, Collymore picked out one aspect of Rashford’s performance which left him raging.

The 27-year-old has had a positive impact since signing for the B6 outfit on loan from Manchester United in the winter window.
As a result, it was little surprise that the former Red Devil received a frosty reception from the Etihad crowd as he started against Pep Guardiola’s side.
Rashford was able to shut out that noise and tuck away a cool penalty in the first half, which was so nearly enough to secure a point.
This wasn’t the case, but the Englishman can be pleased with his own performance, although Collymore may not feel the same way.
This is because the ex-Old Trafford ace was taking set-pieces for the Villans which is something the former striker doesn’t believe in.
Taking to X on 22 April, he said: “Strikers shouldn’t be taking wide free kicks, don’t care who they are or how good they take them. Midfielder, please.”

There is no doubt that the Englishman put in a positive shift before being taken off to be replaced by Ollie Watkins late on.
This saw him round Stefan Ortega before striking the side netting from an acute angle, which was near impossible to score from in M11.
Rashford would have loved to get on the scoresheet more than once, but it wasn’t to be on a damming day for the away side.

Unai Emery was visibly gutted to throw away a point after some poor defending from Disasi, who was somewhat hung out to dry.
It will be interesting now to see how the B6 club can bounce back as an FA Cup semi-final against Crystal Palace awaits on Saturday (26 April).
