Nassef Sawiris makes £100m Aston Villa promise in Villa Park bombshell
Nassef Sawiris has lifted the lid on his plans to make further investments at Aston Villa amid plans to expand Villa Park.
Aston Villa have made significant progress since Unai Emery took the reins in B6 in 2022, going as far as the quarter-finals in the UEFA Champions League this season.
The Birmingham-based club stand the chance to qualify for the elite European competition once again, as they sit level on points with fifth-placed Chelsea with five games left.
Things are also looking promising for the Villans financially, despite being forced to sell players to balance their books in the last two transfer windows.

Sawiris drops £100million bombshell at Aston Villa
While Aston Villa stand to receive a major cash windfall from their Champions League run, Sawiris has now shed light on an investment plan of his own.
Explaining his decision to move away from the UK, one half of NSWE insisted that he is still very much committed to the Premier League club.
Stage | Revenue | Cumulative Figure |
Qualify for Round of 16 | £60m (Achieved) | £60m |
Qualify for Quarter-final | £10.5m (Achieved) | £70.5m |
Qualify for Semi-final | £12.6m (Missed out) | £70.5m |
The Aston Villa co-owner also revealed that there are plans to expand the capacity at Villa Park in the wake of their progress under Emery.
“I’m keeping my house, I’m growing my investment in Aston Villa, looking at expanding the stadium”, Sawiris told FT (21 April). “And it hasn’t changed my love for this country.”
Sawiris is planning to inject £100m into Villa as part of a project that would see Villa Park’s capacity increase from 42,000 to over 50,000.
It is unclear if those funds will also be used to strengthen the squad this summer transfer window.

Sawiris must be celebrated for Villa Park commitment
Sawiris has relocated to Italy and the United Arab Emirates after being satisfied with the UK’s progress under the previous Tory government.
However, it is relieving to see that the richest Egyptian in the world is still committed to taking Villa to greater heights.
Many of Villa’s rivals have expanded their stadiums in recent years, if not building a new one, and it is great to see the Birmingham outfit jump on the bandwagon.
It is safe to say that Aston Villa are currently in good hands, whether that be NSWE’s administration, Monchi’s handling of footballing matters behind the scenes or Emery’s management.
Therefore, it is certainly exciting times to be a Villa supporter.
