Joey Barton calls out Marcus Rashford as ‘Crisis’ continues

Joey Barton has slammed Aston Villa star Marcus Rashford in a bizarre social media rant.

The Manchester United loanee has notched three goals and six assists for the Villans since making the move to join Unai Emery‘s side.

He has revived his career after a very public falling out with Ruben Amorim and could be set to make a permanent move to Villa Park in the summer.

However, his actions off the pitch have left the controversial former Premier League ace incensed.

Barton slams Rashford for off-pitch antics

Rashford was pictured at the boxing fight between Ben Whittaker and Liam Cameron on Sunday evening.

However, Barton has taken exception to the choice of appearance from the Villa ace, who sported a giant diamond necklace for the occasion.

The 44-year-old took to his personal X account (20 April) to criticise the ex-Old Trafford star for his fashion choice, considering that there is a cost of living crisis going on.

He said: “Rashford doesn’t help himself in a cost-of-living crisis dripping in diamonds.”

Rashford does not deserve criticism

Barton is constantly in the spotlight for all of the wrong reasons, his constant ranting about the women’s game and providing controversial takes on the current state of men’s football.

Rashford, meanwhile, has already contributed to society more than the former Manchester City man ever could, forcing former Prime Minister Boris Johnson to provide free school meals to children back in 2020.

Back then, he was criticised and told to focus on the football rather than politics, but he ultimately came out on the right side of history.

He is allowed to enjoy himself and express himself in whatever way he wants, if that is through his fashion choices, then so be it.

As long as he gives his all in his performances on the pitch for the Villans in their pursuit of Champions League football, whatever he does in his personal life is up to him, not Barton, or anyone else, for that matter.

Rashford should ignore the opinion of Barton; he is irrelevant and just looking for his fifteen minutes of infamy, yet again.

He is probably jealous that the 27-year-old has achieved more than he ever could in his career already.
