Manchester City v Aston Villa result predicted by supercomputer
Aston Villa received a massive boost in their quest for Champions League football after a 4-1 victory against Newcastle United on Saturday.
Although Fabian Schar cancelled out Ollie Watkins’ opening goal by half-time, Ian Maatsen restored his side’s lead in the 64th minute, after which Villa ran riot.
As it stands, Unai Emery’s men occupy sixth place in the Premier League table, level on points with Nottingham Forest.
Tuesday presents another big challenge for Aston Villa, though, as they prepare to take on Manchester City, who sit two points ahead and are also in the running for a Champions League finish.

Aston Villa predicted to trip up against Manchester City
After being knocked out of the Champions League at the hands of PSG, Aston Villa showed no struggle in bouncing back and beating Newcastle in a victory that could be crucial in the race for the top five.
In a season that has been well below their usual levels, Manchester City edged past Everton in a 2-0 win on Saturday (19 April).
Although it sounds comfortable, it took the Sky Blues until the 84th minute to break the deadlock against David Moyes’ side, meaning there is still plenty of work for them to do.
This is set to be another crucial clash in the Champions League qualification race at the Etihad, though, and Emery’s men will be hoping they can put in a similar level of performance to the one they did against Newcastle.
However, the odds are against the West Midlands outfit on this occasion, with the Opta supercomputer giving Manchester City a 50.5 per cent chance of victory.
The good news for Villa is that a win for them is the second most likely outcome, with a 26.5 per cent chance, while a share of the points is 22.9 per cent likely.

Aston Villa can’t afford to drop
The supercomputer may be in Manchester City’s favour, but that won’t mean anything to the fans who were inside Villa Park watching their side beat Newcastle.
Emery’s men were on the attack throughout the afternoon and in the second half, something clicked that saw their best qualities unleashed.
After this game, Villa then have to turn their attentions to an FA Cup semi-final against Crystal Palace, which means a victory against City would allow more focus on that tie.
Team | Played | Won | Drawn | Lost |
Aston Villa | 33 | 16 | 9 | 8 |
Manchester City | 33 | 17 | 7 | 9 |
Pep Guardiola’s side are not what they have been before, hence why this is now a game that could be crucial in the quest for Champions League football.
With that in mind, however, it means that there is no need for Villa to go into this game with anything but confidence in their ability to gain another big victory.
