Marcus Rashford’s ‘Man United career’ over after Aston Villa development

Marcus Rashford’s future remains uncertain as he continues to shine at Aston Villa.

The 27-year-old joined the Villans on loan in the winter transfer window after failing to win over Ruben Amorim.

The England star has notched three goals and six assists in 15 matches in all competitions for the Villa Park outfit.

Unai Emery‘s side have an option to purchase the Manchester United star for £40million at the end of the season.

Shearer cannot see Rashford staying at United

Alan Shearer cannot see the Three Lions ace staying at Old Trafford after his loan spell with the Villans expires, suggesting his time at United is already over.

The former Newcastle striker was adamant that Rashford would not return to the Red Devils while Amorim was in the dugout.

Speaking on the Rest is Football podcast (17 April), he said: “I’d be astonished if there’s a career for him at Manchester United, not while Amorim’s there.

“He’s made it clear he doesn’t want him. Man United are in the mire in the Premier League and yet he thinks to get him out of the club is the best answer. There’s no way he’s going back there while Amorim’s there.”

Rashford should stay at Villa

Given his resurgence under Emery, it makes perfect sense for the ex-United star to remain in Birmingham beyond the end of the current campaign, rather than going back to play under Amorim.

He is clearly enjoying his football again and is currently favoured over Ollie Watkins in the number nine role at the moment under the Spaniard as was shown when he started against Paris Saint-Germain (15 April).

Rashford has hit the ground running at Villa.

It would be foolish to risk that happiness and make a move to another club, where he may not fit in and might struggle to win over the manager.

Rashford has been linked with moves to the likes of Barcelona and PSG but he should stay where he feels comfortable already, as ex-Villa scout Bryan King argued when speaking exclusively to Villa News.

A move to those clubs would be difficult to turn down but the Villans gave him the chance to revive his career when nobody else would and he should repay their faith in him and stick around to help them achieve their goals.

If the B6 outfit continue on their current trajectory in the Premier League, they will be playing Champions League football next season and the veteran will have a chance to showcase his talents on the biggest stage once again.
