Rashford Man United ‘exit decision confirmed’ after Rooney conversation

Wayne Rooney may have already revealed whether Marcus Rashford will leave Manchester United next summer after his loan spell at Aston Villa.

The Villans signed the England international from the Red Devils in the winter transfer window, and it remains to be seen whether he’ll stay beyond this season.

Unai Emery has shown faith in the 27-year-old as he started for the Lions at home against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the Champions League on Tuesday (15 April), with the overall tie ending 5-4 in favour of the visitors.

With Rashford’s future at Villa Park a topic of discussion, Rooney seemed to hint at the forward’s possible decision at Old Trafford in the coming months.

Rooney told of Rashford Man United desire after Aston Villa exit

Rooney may be right about Rashford wanting to play for Man United again once his loan spell at Aston Villa ends, Danny Murphy says.

The former Liverpool star wouldn’t have thought the English forward wanted to return to the Red Devils, but feels Rooney possibly has a better understanding of the situation.

Murphy believes the Man United icon could potentially have had a conversation with the 27-year-old regarding his future.

Speaking on talkSPORT (16 April, 10:25), the ex-midfielder said: “I would’ve said no [that Rashford wants to play for Man United] because all I’m thinking of is his desire to leave and find a new challenge. But Rooney probably knows him better than me.

“So if Rooney is saying that categorically or emphatically like he did last night, I would imagine he’s had a conversation with him.”

Emery will want permanent Rashford transfer at Villa Park

Man United fans shared their disdain for Rashford after his rather underwhelming performance in the first leg against PSG at Parc des Princes.

The England international struggled for game time at Old Trafford, but has recently found his feet at the Villans.

Emery has dropped Ollie Watkins in favour of the Man United loanee, which shows the Spanish manager’s trust in him.

Villa may have been knocked out of the Champions League, but they still have much to play for domestically.

Rashford will arguably remain a key player for the Lions in the final stretch of the season, as they look to finish in the top five of the Premier League.

If the Birmingham club qualify for next season’s Champions League, they’ll evidently have a better chance of convincing the English forward to stay.

Ruben Amorim excluded the 27-year-old from his plans once he replaced Erik ten Hag, and it wouldn’t make sense for the winger to return to Old Trafford.

Unless the Portuguese manager changes his stance towards Rashford, his future at the Red Devils seems to have ended.
