Unai Emery spotted in ‘furious’ moment after ‘devastating’ Champions League scenes
Aston Villa were eliminated from the Champions League despite a thrilling 3-2 win over Paris Saint-Germain.
Goals from Youri Tielemans, John McGinn and Ezri Konsa were not enough to bridge the deficit from the first leg in the French capital on 9 April.
The Villans started off in the worst possible way allowing two goals from Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes before making their remarkable comeback and coming within just one goal of taking it to extra time.

Emery reaction spotted as Villa eliminated
Emery was devastated as his Villa side mounted a sensational comeback from a 5-2 aggregate scoreline and it was not enough.
After the full-time whistle blew, he was spotted showing his frustration on the touchline after his side came so close to making history.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live (15 April, 21:52 pm), John Murray said: “Unai Emery is furious. He kicks over a drink in frustration. He looks devastated that his team is out.”

Villa need to bounce back after gutting exit
The fashion of the exit, the way that they came so close but could not get over the line could have a knock-on effect on the Villans’ season if they let it get into their heads.
Emery needs to make sure that it does not, his side can still qualify for another season amongst Europe’s elite from their league position and they are still in with a chance of lifting the FA Cup as they will face Crystal Palace in the semi-final at Wembley (26 April).
Premier League | Played | GD | Points |
5. Man City | 32 | +20 | 55 |
6. Chelsea | 32 | +17 | 54 |
7. Aston Villa | 32 | +3 | 54 |
In terms of Champions League qualification, the B6 outfit are currently sitting in seventh place in the Premier League, just one point behind Manchester City, who currently occupy the final spot in fifth place, which will grant English teams an extra spot due to their European performances this campaign.
The two sides meet on April 22 in a clash that could be crucial to Villa’s hopes of a second successive season in the big time and they will take encouragement from their performance against the Parisians and the fact that they won their last four league matches.
They still have a lot to play for and they need to use the disappointment to turn it into motivation and achieve their goals this season and beyond.
