Unai Emery ‘makes Asensio blunder’ in Aston Villa confirmed lineup v PSG

Aston Villa have a huge task at hand if they are to overturn the 3-1 deficit against PSG in the Champions League.

Unai Emery’s side have it all to do at Villa Park ahead of their Champions League clash with PSG, and the Spaniard has made four changes from the side that won against Southampton at the weekend in a bid to achieve that.

With PSG leading 3-1 after the first leg, Aston Villa will have no margin for error against The Parisians if they are to progress through to the semi finals.

Aston Villa must be at their best against the Ligue 1 giants

Unsurprisingly, Emi Martinez starts between the sticks for Villa, having largely been a spectator at the weekend, with Southampton forcing him into just two saves [FotMob].

Ezri Konsa misplaced just one pass against the Saints last time out, and he retains his place at the heart of defence, alongside Pau Torres.

A fullback partnership of Matty Cash and Lucas Digne could be pivotal to their chances of a win, especially if the former can replicate his display from the weekend in which he won all four of his defensive duels.

Villa struggled against PSG in the first leg.

Boubacar Kamara is back in the team having been rested against Southampton, with Youri Tielemans and Amadou Onana starting alongside him.

Tielemans was outstanding at St. Mary’s, having completed 82 out of 88 passes in the game, the most out of anyone on the pitch.

Marco Asensio will still have a huge role to play for Villa

Morgan Rogers forms part of the attack once again, having registered an assist last time out against the Saints with his only chance created, as well as scoring against PSG in the reverse fixture.

Marco Asensio has been axed, seemingly after missing two penalties against Southampton, with John McGinn coming back into the lineup in what appears to be a slight switch-up.

The Spaniard, despite missing the penalties, offered plenty to the game, completing 87 per cent of his passes, and creating two chances, meaning Emery may regret his decision come the end of the game.

Jacob Ramsey is out of the lineup to make way for the aforementioned Onana in the final of the four changes made by Emery.

Marcus Rashford leads the line for Villa, with Ollie Watkins again resigned to the bench.
